Three Things That May Contribute To Your Lower Back Pain

LinkedInFacebookInstagramXPinterestYoutube

Lower back pain is the leading cause of disability throughout the entire world, forcing patients to miss out on their personal and professional obligations. However, many of the contributors and triggers for back pain are avoidable.

Orthopedic Treatment For Lower Back Pain

If you suffer from chronic back pain or recently injured your back in an accident, contact our Atlanta orthopedic doctors to schedule an examination. We can review your condition, diagnose the cause, and provide personalized treatment that helps you return to your routine.

Common Causes of Lower Back Pain

Depending on the circumstances, you may be able to protect yourself from potential back conditions that are caused by everyday activities and habits. Check out the following information that highlights a few common contributors to lower back pain and think about how you can overcome or avoid them in your life. If you suffer from lower back pain that’s too intense, contact AICA Orthopedics to schedule an appointment.

Your Desktop or Laptop Screen

The average person living in the United States invests nine hours a day sitting down and looking at their computer screen or smartphone device. Keeping your neck and head positioned slightly downward as you look at your monitor for hours at a time creates stress that contributes to lower back pain. Instead of sitting down for hours, try to break up the monotony by getting up and walking around for ten minutes, each hour.

You can also consider purchasing ergonomic friendly devices that help raise your monitor or allow you to stand up while working. These devices, along with frequent exercise, help relieve pressure that builds throughout your shoulders, neck, and back.

Falling Asleep On Your Stomach

If your pillow does not provide enough support for your neck and back, pressure can build and affect the health of your joints or muscles. Instead, try to sleep on your back or side to keep your spine elongated and in control. If you are only able to fall asleep on your stomach, consider adding a small pillow under your hips to reduce the pressure applied to your discs and ligaments.

Wearing The Wrong Footwear

Wearing high heels or flip-flops are contributors to lower back pain because of how little support they provide, especially in the arch of your feet. Instead, choose footwear that fit without being too loose or snug. If you are going to walk on hard surfaces, consider substituting your stilettos or sandals with sneakers that can absorb the impact of your movement.

Yesterday was my last day at AICA College Park since my accident in December, there is so much to say about the people who work here and the level of customer service, care, attention, friendliness, and overall amazing atmosphere that they provide. Location is perfect in College Park, right off the highway and in a small plaza with plenty of parking. The entire staff, from the front desk girls, to the physical therapy girls, to the chiros, and the medical team are AMAZING! I feel like I just lost my friends not being able to visit them twice a week every week. I will definitely miss coming here. All the smiles and warm welcomes received. The physical therapy - asking about my day, if everything is okay and helping my back and neck get better. I had the pleasure of having Dr. Hector as my chiropractor, he is awesome, was very helpful in the healing process and also a native Spanish speaker which is a plus for those of us who do speak Spanish. Before coming to AICA, I tried another injury clinic in ATL and walked out after 5 mins - so impersonal and cold. I am so glad that I found AICA in College Park. Trust me, if you are injured and need some healing and TLC you NEED to come to this clinic! Highly recommend to everyone. Thank you again to the guys and girls at AICA - xo Ms. Colon
