Physical therapists are versatile doctors with a complex understanding of how the musculoskeletal system works. They utilize various techniques and expertise to accomplish the goal of maintaining the proper functions of the various hard and soft tissues of the body. They do this at many stages of an individual’s treatment; physical therapists may consult with a patient in preparation for a surgical procedure for what is called “prehabilitation.” They may also be responsible for providing the primary method of healing for an orthopedic pain issue. They will also nearly always be involved in the rehabilitation that follows a procedure or other course of treatment.

Orthopedic Doctors

Orthopedic Physicians are doctors who have specialized in treating chronic conditions and injuries alike. Their particular purview is the skeletal system and the soft tissue of the body, and they commonly treat neck, joint, hand, foot, and back issues. Orthopedic Doctors are also often the first call made when someone needs treatment or is experiencing pain resulting from a sporting injury. Doctors who work in orthopedics are able to treat issues using surgical procedures, medication therapy, and various forms of physiotherapy.

Neurosurgeons

Neurosurgery is a discipline that specializes in the surgical treatment of diseases, injuries, and conditions which affect the nervous system. These types of problems can be relative to the brain or spinal cord, which is referred to as the central nervous system. There is another component to the greater nervous system that is called the peripheral nervous system, and neurosurgeons treat issues with it as well. The peripheral nervous system is responsible for the functions of the five senses.

Neurologists

Neurologists maintain a similar focus on the nervous system, just like neurosurgeons. The primary difference between these two specialties relates to how the doctors go about treating the problems they encounter, and sometimes the nature of the problems themselves. Neurologists see patients who are suffering from neurological disorders that either cause them pain or limit their mobility or ability to function mentally and physically. These physicians will commonly discern conditions based upon symptoms that individuals present with. These degenerative disorders and other various conditions can often be managed without the use of surgery as a treatment plan.

Chiropractors

Chiropractors specialize in the treatment of a wide span of issues affecting the body using their understanding of how the spine needs to be properly aligned. It is core to the principles of chiropractic care that the whole body is connected through spinal alignment, and they work to treat their patients’ pain by restoring alignment and reducing tension.

Injury Doctors

Injury doctors are usually the specialists that our patients, both established and prospective have the least experience with. They possess expertise in treating individuals who have been injured as a result of auto accidents. They are orthopedic physicians who have chosen a specialty in which they can focus their knowledge and experience on treating traumatic injury caused by accidents. The Atlanta orthopedic specialists who treat injuries from accidents are experienced and dedicated to your complete healing.

1897 Reviews from our Amazing patients

You were kind enough to meet with me, to ensure that I was comfortable with AICA., and took me thru the typical protocol that one would expect after a personal injury. I thank you for that day, because I was new to this type of injury and I had no idea what to expect. It turns out that “everything you said” happened like clockwork. The facility, the care, the efficiency, and the follow-up from the staff and the Doctor was well beyond my expectation. I am 62 yrs. of age, and over those years I can’t recall when I have ever had a doctor spend as much “quality time” with me explaining the procedures (pre and post-op) in preparing me as a patient. He took great interest in assuring me that I was in good hands, and at the same time made me feel that I was receiving special treatment. As I continued with my appointments I observed that my “special treatment” was not exclusive but was extended to all of his patients, as if they were his personal friends. Something you don’t see very often these days - A doctor with bedside manner. Again, I appreciate the special care and handling of my injury over the past year, and I thank you for making this a pleasurable experience for me.
