The Benefits of Early MRI Imaging in Car Accident Cases

MRI Imaging

MRI Atlanta Imaging

MRI stands for Magnetic Resonance Imaging. MRI scans are most often used in diagnostic testing to determine the presence or severity of an injury, disease, or other problems. MRIs use magnets and radio waves to capture images of the soft tissue inside your body, which they then send to a computer.

Doctors can look over those images to diagnose a number of things and to understand what is happening with your muscles, tendons, ligament, cartilage, and spinal discs, as well as your blood vessels, heart, brain, spinal cord, and more. Unlike X-Rays and CT scans, MRIs do not use radiation. They can be done anywhere on your body, and they can be done in both open and closed environments to make all patients as comfortable as possible during the scans.

Orthopedic doctors and surgeons specialize in musculoskeletal injuries that occur in the bones, joints, ligaments, tendons and muscles after an auto accident. Neurologists and neurosurgeons are doctors who address problems with the brain and nervous system that cause pain or limited mobility. AICA’s experienced neurologists, neurosurgeons, and orthopedic specialists can precisely diagnose and treat various injuries or conditions that affect your quality of life. Get treatment for everything from musculoskeletal injuries to long standing neurological disorders and always feel confident that you’re in expert hands.
After a car accident, you want to put your health in the hands of professionals who know the best way to provide treatment. You need both experienced physicians AND top notch assistants to support them. At AICA, our physician assistants perform various tasks with diligence, from patient exams and diagnostics to managing treatment plans and offering advice. At AICA, every one of our employees puts your well-being first.

What Can MRIs Detect?

MRI Scans are an incredible tool that doctors at AICA Orthopedics are proud and thankful to have. They can help diagnose a number of diseases and injuries, and they can help us see how well you’re doing with a particular treatment. We can monitor your healing and check the status of an injury or disease within your soft tissue. MRIs can help detect so many things:

  • Blood vessel damage in the brain or spinal cord
  • A traumatic brain injury
  • Cancer
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Stroke
  • Blocked blood vessels within the heart
  • Heart disease
  • Problems with the heart due to heart attack or a structural issue
  • Bone infections
  • Joint damage
  • Disc herniation
  • Breast health
  • Ovarian health
  • Prostate health

And so much more

MRIs Are Beneficial for Personal Injury & Car Accidents Patients

Often times, it’s recommended to get an MRI after a car accident.  Many times injuries go undetected for a while. Maybe you didn’t have any pain initially, or maybe you thought your pain was taken care of after the first few weeks.

Maybe you had a major injury that required a long recovery, and you assumed that was the only injury you sustained. It’s not uncommon for things like whiplash and acute inflammation to go unnoticed. It’s not until they start causing other problems down the road that people wonder what’s wrong with them. An MRI can detect these things, as well as general swelling and minor soft tissue damage, which can help improve your treatment, healing, and recovery process.

Whether you’ve just sustained a personal injury or an automobile accident or it has been years since you’ve had one, our technologists and radiologists can perform an MRI  at our Atlanta MRI imaging center to ensure you don’t have hidden injuries.

Specialists Utilize MRIs for Diagnosis and Treatment

MRIs are important imaging tools for each and every specialist at AICA Orthopedics. MRI imaging technology is important not only for orthopedic specialists, but also for neurologists, interventional spine specialists, and chiropractors at AICA Orthopedics.

Orthopedic Spine & Joint

An MRI gives orthopedic specialists a close up look of the soft tissue inside the body. It can help them diagnose knee, ankle, or hand injuries such as sprains, tears, or pulls, joint pain such as arthritis because of lack of cartilage, soft tissue, between the joints or muscle or ligament damage to other parts of the body. When a chiropractor at AICA Orthopedics can’t see what they need to see with an X-Ray, they may order an MRI. An MRI can pinpoint soft tissue problems of the spine or joints to look for possible problem areas such as dislocations. With an MRI, a clearer picture is given so nothing is missed and your pain can be addressed. Learn More about Chiropractic

Interventional Spine

MRI scans can also be an invaluable tool for examining the neck, back, and spine. Interventional spinal specialists can use MRI imaging to look for abnormalities of the spine, degenerative diseases, dislocated, herniated, or bulging discs, or spinal degeneration in specific vertebrae of the spine. Back pain is one of the main complaints of pain in the nation. With the appropriate tools, such as MRI imaging, interventional spinal specialists can alleviate pain and treat injuries with carefulness and precision. Learn More about Interventional Spine

Neurology

Neurologists utilize MRI imaging technology to take a close up look of the brain. An MRI can be a useful tool for diagnosing tumors, aneurysms, hemorrhaging or bleeding of the brain, subdural hematomas, fluid in or around the brain, or bruising of the brain. If you or someone you love has suffered a head injury from a sports injury, slip and fall accident, or automobile accident, a neurologist can help. Yesterday was my last day at AICA College Park since my accident in December, there is so much to say about the people who work here and the level of customer service, care, attention, friendliness, and overall amazing atmosphere that they provide. Location is perfect in College Park, right off the highway and in a small plaza with plenty of parking. The entire staff, from the front desk girls, to the physical therapy girls, to the chiros, and the medical team are AMAZING! I feel like I just lost my friends not being able to visit them twice a week every week. I will definitely miss coming here. All the smiles and warm welcomes received. The physical therapy - asking about my day, if everything is okay and helping my back and neck get better. I had the pleasure of having Dr. Hector as my chiropractor, he is awesome, was very helpful in the healing process and also a native Spanish speaker which is a plus for those of us who do speak Spanish. Before coming to AICA, I tried another injury clinic in ATL and walked out after 5 mins - so impersonal and cold. I am so glad that I found AICA in College Park. Trust me, if you are injured and need some healing and TLC you NEED to come to this clinic! Highly recommend to everyone. Thank you again to the guys and girls at AICA - xo Ms. Colon
