The rule of thumb you typically hear in the aftermath of a car accident does hold up…
if your vehicle was hit hard enough to result in any damage (no matter how small), you likely received some damage as well.
There are wide ranges of car accident injuries. Several of the most common include broken bones fractured on impact, neck injuries caused by whiplash, as well as back and spinal injuries. Impact with another vehicle or object, your airbag inside the vehicle, and even other surfaces within the car can cause many of these types of pain and injury.
Simple things such as where an individual is sitting or facing in the vehicle can affect the sort and extent of injuries they leave with. All of the aforementioned types of injuries can be serious but none of them are wounds you need to live with long-term. Chronic pain doesn’t have to be another thing you are left to manage as the dust settles from a car accident. If you or someone you love has been injured in a car accident, allow our orthopedic specialists and chiropractors to provide the care and relief needed.
The team of specialists at AICA Orthopedics can assist you no matter what type of treatment your specific case may require, and our car accident clinic is here to get you feeling back to normal. In the aftermath of a car accident, many types of injuries may be apparent. Others might present at a later time. It is important that accurate diagnostic tests are run to catalog each injury. Our offices contain state-of-the-art imaging equipment with which such tests can be performed.
Orthopedic care can be offered to address various types of soft tissue damage that are common as a result of auto accidents. In plain terms, this means that harm has been done to the musculature, the cartilage, or the various ligaments and tendons. Orthopedic care is also essential in the event that pain and injury begin to have an effect on the body after the initial accident-related harm is assessed.
It’s important that all injuries resulting from an auto accident are properly treated and documented. In order to be fairly compensated by the insurance company, it’s critically important that you follow the treatment plan given by your doctors. If you went to the ER or your family doctor after the accident, they probably took x-rays and gave a treatment plan for any visible injuries. However, it’s important that you see an accident injury specialist who can assess your hard and soft tissue injuries, as well as create a plan to help you heal. This is especially critical if you are dealing with any pain after a car accident. Some common plans, treatments, and cases include:
If you have been in a car accident, it isn’t unreasonable to assume that your spine has been affected. More specifically, your spine is likely to be misaligned. When a car smashes into something, the bodies inside are propelled in the direction the force of that impact sends them. Luckily, we now utilize safety features like seatbelts and they will cut that movement short abruptly, keeping you inside the vehicle. This jerking around is responsible for any number of spine-related injuries and pain following an accident. You might need the assistance of an experienced chiropractor to realign your spine and allow you to feel relief from the back and neck pain you are suffering. It is recommended in the course of every car accident that an individual seek the expert advice of a chiropractor to be certain that the trauma their body went through doesn’t cause lasting injuries.
Victims of car accidents often experience neurological injuries. These occur when the head, neck, and/or spine are affected by the impact. The symptoms of this sort of affliction could present as numbness, headaches, migraines, and difficulty focusing. They also might take a bit of time to become noticeable as you return to your normal everyday schedule and tasks. Even though you might not presume to have a neurological injury following trauma from a car accident, you very well might, and it certainly should be a part of any compensation you receive to resolve the cost of your treatment.
