Interview Guide
3 Steps
- Predict
- Prepare
- Push
1. Predict: Prove yourself wrong
Look for a reason to hire or a reason not to hire.
2. Prepare: Review Assessments
List the good and the concerns
- Verify the good.
- Vet your concerns.
DISC – know the tool and know the profile you’re looking for.
Wonderlic – know your target range and know how to vet if it’s low.
Resume
Berke – powerful tool. Read it at a glance and then reference the interview guide.
HEART – most this and least that. Questions to push on each core value.
3. Push: Friendly but not their friend.
- Break the ice. Get to know them. Listen carefully. You’re a detective in the precinct. Not a manager having a conversation.
- Trap them as hard as you can. But give them enough clues so you get your answer.
“I noticed your I is low on the DISC. Do you feel like you’re able to overcome that and connect with coworkers?” VS “Sometimes this position requires a lot of time alone in an office reviewing clinic performance metrics. Do you prefer analytical work or managing people? And when doing analytical work, what KPIs would you say are most important to a clinics success?”
Remember
- Make every word measured and listen as much as possible.
- Control the interview. If you’ve heard enough, interrupt and move on.
- Take notes!
- Don’t ever answer a question you asked
- Don’t have time to prepare? Prep will reduce your interview time
