Back pain is the primary source of work disability in the United States. Even if your career doesn’t require you to lift heavy weight, you are still at risk of developing back pain at some point. In fact, most back pain is caused by frequently sitting for long periods. Finding a solution that helps keep back pain at bay for the long haul is critical for being able to follow through with all of your personal and professional obligations. That’s why so many people throughout the region visit AICA Orthopedics for back pain relief. Only our team of Atlanta Orthopedic Doctors have the technology and the resources to approach each patient’s needs with customized solutions that provide permanent results.

Back Pain At Work

Our bodies are not designed to remain stationary for on a regular basis. The stress that’s applied to your neck, vertebrae, and lower back muscles when sitting at a desk gradually builds over time and causes a series of health complications such as chronic pain or postural impairments. However, there are solutions if you work in an office environment that can help prevent back pain from becoming a consistent part of your life.

Tips For Reducing Back Pain At The Office

If you experience back pain that lasts more than a few months, you need to contact AICA Orthopedics for immediate treatment. Chronic back pain is proven to cause other complications over time and has the potential to affect your mood, ability to focus and obtain enough rest to keep your health intact. In an office setting, such negative side effects can also prevent you from performing your job to the best of your ability. Aside from meeting with our Orthopedic Doctors for back pain relief, you should also consider the following tips to help reduce discomfort caused by your office environment.

  • Keep your head aligned with your neck at all times and try to avoid leaning over your keyboard or desk.
  • When seated, do not cross your legs and keep both feet flat on the floor.
  • Try to keep your knees at a 90-degree angle.
  • Select an office chair that provides substantial lumbar support. If you are unable to purchase a new chair or your employer isn’t able to accommodate this request, you can place a small pillow between the chair and your lower back to provide additional support.
  • Keep your computer monitor at arm’s length away and positioned where your eyes can see everything without you having to move your head.
  • Allow yourself to take short breaks throughout the day. You can avoid many kinds of aches and pains by simply walking around your office for a few minutes each hour.
  • Try to exercise three to four times each week. You don’t have to jump into a vigorous workout routine, just try to walk more often or join a yoga class. Finding ways to exercise that are also fun or interesting is important for staying motivated about your physical health.

Yesterday was my last day at AICA College Park since my accident in December, there is so much to say about the people who work here and the level of customer service, care, attention, friendliness, and overall amazing atmosphere that they provide. Location is perfect in College Park, right off the highway and in a small plaza with plenty of parking. The entire staff, from the front desk girls, to the physical therapy girls, to the chiros, and the medical team are AMAZING! I feel like I just lost my friends not being able to visit them twice a week every week. I will definitely miss coming here. All the smiles and warm welcomes received. The physical therapy - asking about my day, if everything is okay and helping my back and neck get better. I had the pleasure of having Dr. Hector as my chiropractor, he is awesome, was very helpful in the healing process and also a native Spanish speaker which is a plus for those of us who do speak Spanish. Before coming to AICA, I tried another injury clinic in ATL and walked out after 5 mins - so impersonal and cold. I am so glad that I found AICA in College Park. Trust me, if you are injured and need some healing and TLC you NEED to come to this clinic! Highly recommend to everyone. Thank you again to the guys and girls at AICA - xo Ms. Colon
